He replaces Justice R Boivin, who was appointed to the Federal Court of Appeal.

Justice Locke has been in the intellectual property group of Norton Rose Fulbright and its predecessor Ogilvy Renault since 1993. He is a partner, lawyer, patent agent and trade mark agent in the firm’s Montréal office. He has appeared before all levels of court, including the Superior Court of Quebec, the Federal Court and the Patent Appeal Board.

Justice Locke has been active with numerous professional organisations, including the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, of which he was appointed treasurer last September.
