WIPO hosts an “Information Meeting on the Role and Responsibility of Internet Intermediaries in the Field of Trademarks” in Geneva. Speakers include Severine Abis of Procter & Gamble, David Ho of Alibaba.com, Terri Chen of Google and Jean Bergevin of the European Commission.

Tuesday September 18

WIPO’s Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications meets in Geneva for its 27th session. The agenda includes discussions on the role of internet intermediaries in the protection of trade marks, industrial designs and the trade mark aspects of the new gTLDs.

The General Court of the Court of Justice of the EU rules in three joined cases between Schräder and the Community Plant Variety Office (Lemon Symphony, Sumost 01 and Lemon Symphony); and in Scandic Distilleries v OHMI – Bürgerbräu, Röhm & Söhne (BÜRGER).

The Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament discusses a proposal for a regulation that would increase the number of judges at the General Court of the Court of Justice of the EU.

The 26th Annual MARQUES conference begins in Athens.
