UK firm EIP has hired Matthew Jones as a partner in its London office, in the latest in a string of expansive moves by the firm

Jones (right) joins from Teva Pharmaceuticals Europe where he worked on patent litigation, including Generics [UK] v Yeda & Teva over the drug Copaxone. The Court of Appeal ruled on the case in July 2013.

Jones has worked on other patent areas in the past, including electronics and telecoms. He worked alongside EIP's head of litigation Gary Moss at both McDermott Will & Emery and Taylor Wessing.

EIP opened an office in the US in May 2013, in San Diego – the first UK IP law firm to do so. It has also said it will open an office in Düsseldorf, Germany later this year.

The firm now has 18 partners, of which five work on litigation under the EIP Legal side of the firm. The remainder are patent and trade mark attorneys.
