Quinn Emanuel expands in Germany

Litigation specialist Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan is opening a third office in Germany

The US firm opened in Mannheim in March 2010 and in Hamburg in 2012. Now it has added an office in Munich. The firm counts among its patent litigation clients Samsung and Motorola.

The opening comes a year after EU member states agreed that Munich will host mechanical engineering cases before the unitary patent court.

Marcus Grosch, who will oversee the firm’s new Munich office, said: “I envisage Munich as one of the most relevant European venues for legal advice extending over and above IP. The Munich office offers an ideal platform for the further development of our practice beyond IP and competition law.”

Earlier this year the firm won the award for German contentious firm of the year at Managing IP’s Global Awards ceremony in London.
