Rankings reveal world’s leading copyright firms

Managing IP has published its annual ranking of firms with specialist copyright practices, analysing the market in 21 jurisdictions

The rankings are the third part of Managing IP’s annual IP Survey, which lists leading firms around the world for patents, trade marks and copyright. The patent tables were published in January and the trade mark tables in February.

The copyright rankings – the largest such analysis of the sector published anywhere – include separate tables for foreign and domestic firms in China, as well as jurisdictions such as the UK, US, Japan and India.

As can be seen from the infographic produced in this month’s Managing IP magazine, the biggest changes to the rankings this year came in Australia and Mexico.

In Australia, Henry Davis York entered the table for the first time, while Middletons and Blake Dawson moved up a tier. Copyright lawyers Peter Banki, Kate Haddock, Tony Watson, Lisa Egan, Charles Alexander and Donna Short are highlighted for their work.

In Mexico, Uhthoff Gomez Vega & Uhthoff enters the table in tier 2, while Calderon & De La Sierra drops a tier. Enrique Torres Septien and his firm Torres Septién y Asociados are noted as one to watch for future years.

The IP Handbook, which contains detailed descriptions of the firms in these copyright tables as well as analysis of over 70 other countries, will be published in May and available on MIPHandbook.com on June 1.

The copyright rankings can be seen here.
