gTLD seminar to be held in Brussels on June 22

Managing IP is sponsoring a seminar on new gTLDs, to be held in Brussels on June 22, immediately before the Icann meeting in Prague

The seminar is titled “Challenges in the extended Internet: How to Defend Your Interests and Addressing the Competition in the New gTLDs, Whether you Applied or Not”.

It is hosted by ICC Belgium and the arbitration centre Cepani/Cepina.

Speakers include Brian Beckham of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, Michel Flamée of Cepani/Cepina, John Murino of Crowell & Moring and Hannah Tuempel of ICC, Paris. Flip Petillion of Crowell & Moring will moderate the panel discussion.

The seminar is aimed both at gTLD applicants and others, such as trade mark owners, who need to know how to protect their rights when new gTLDs are rolled out.

The application window for new gTLDs closed yesterday and there are expected to be more than 2,000 applications.

The total number and names of applications are due to be revealed on June 13.

The registration form for the seminar is available in French and Dutch and the full programme is available in English. To register, please download a form and return to ICC Belgium by fax or email.
