Eight finalists shortlisted for DesignEuropa awards

Designs for a coffee machine, bicycle rack, motorbike and bench are among those shortlisted for the first DesignEuropa awards. The winners will be announced in Milan on November 30

The awards are organised by EUIPO to celebrate excellence in design and design management among RCD holders. The finalists have been selected by a 16-person jury.

The jury have also selected Giorgetto Giugiaro as the winner of the lifetime achievement award. Giugiaro has created more than 200 car designs in a 60-year career, including the Volkswagen Golf, Lotus Esprit, Fiat Panda and Maserati Bora 3200 GT.

The four finalists in the industry category are:

  • Pulcina espresso maker (RCD owner: Alessi)

  • Raval bicycle rack (Escofet)

  • Thule Urban Glide stroller (Thule) (pictured left)

  • XDiavel motorbike (Ducati)

Small and emerging finalists

Ido_Bench

The finalists in the small and emerging companies category are:

  • Aria lamp (Slamp)

  • Flap sound absorbing panel (Caimi Brevetti)

  • Ido bench (Anna Szonyi) (pictured right)

  • Mooove lamp (Holon Industrial Design)

EUIPO is partnering with the Italian IP office (UIBM) to host the first DesignEuropa awards. More information is available on the awards website.
