Von Bomhard to set up new firm

Trade mark practitioner Verena von Bomhard has left Hogan Lovells to establish a new firm, to be called BomhardIP

Hogan Lovells confirmed that she left its Alicante office on November 30 last year, along with two associates and two paralegals. Managing IP understands that she is now on gardening leave and the new firm will launch in March.

BomhardIP is expected to include up to 10 staff including four attorneys from three countries when it opens. When contacted by Managing IP, von Bomhard said she could not comment at this time.

Von Bomhard (pictured right) had been with Hogan Lovells, and its predecessor firms, since 1994. Last year she was presented with INTA’s Advancement of Trademark Law Award.

She will be taking part in a discussion on country names and nation branding at WIPO in Geneva on March 17, moderated by Managing IP’s James Nurton.

Hogan Lovells said it would be adding an associate in Alicante at the beginning of March, and has another associate on secondment from Frankfurt. It added that the Alicante office "is a key part of our trade mark network", with two partners, 10 associates and 15 paralegals.
