Dentons and Dacheng deal creates world's biggest firm

Dentons and full service Chinese firm Dacheng have combined to form Dacheng Dentons, the largest law firm in the world

The new firm is using a Verein structure, which allows regional offices to retain separate profit pools while sharing a global brand and core services.

It will have more than 6,500 lawyers and professionals in 120 locations in more than 50 countries, including more than 40 offices in China and 16 in the US.

Last year Managing IP included Dacheng in tier four in its ranking for trade mark contentious work by domestic firms, and tier three for copyright work. Twelve months ago the Chinese Supreme People’s Court included a case on which the firm worked in a list of seven legal disputes that had influenced Chinese people’s lives in recent years. Senior partner Wang Dengshan represented author Yang Jiang in a successful application for an injunction to prevent copyright infringement.
