Pooley sets up new firm

Former WIPO deputy director general James Pooley has launched an independent practice focusing on IP strategy and litigation in patents and trade secrets

His office will be in Silicon Valley, but he will travel to meet the needs of individual projects.

Pooley (pictured, right, at Managing IP's Patent Forum), worked at WIPO from 2009 to 2014, where he was responsible for the PCT and for programmes for the global development of patent laws.

Before joining WIPO, he was a partner in the Palo Alto office of Morrison & Foerster.

He was AIPLA President in 2008 and is the author of the treatise Trade Secrets, first published in 1997.
