On-screen and cache copies do not infringe, says CJEU

Copies on a user’s computer screen and on the internet cache on the hard disk may be made without the authorisation of the copyright holders, the Court of Justice of the EU has confirmed in its ruling in the so-called Meltwater case

In today’s judgment (C-360/13), the Court provided guidance on the interpretation of the EU Copyright Directive, in a case between the Newspaper Licensing Agency (NLA) and the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA).
