Silk Market liability ruling expected in China
A group of brand owners is awaiting a ruling from a Beijing court that will clarify when a landlord is liable for secondary infringement
The case began when Hermès, Tommy Hilfiger, Hard Rock Café and Columbia Sportswear filed separate lawsuits in the Beijing No 2 Intermediate People's Court against the Silk Market's landlord, the Beijing Xiushui Haosen Clothing Market, for trade mark infringement.
