Chan, who was formerly in Rouse’s Beijing office, will open the firm’s specialist trade mark practice in China.
For regulatory reasons, it has set up a separate legal entity, called Simmons & Simmons (Beijing) Intellectual Property Agency Company Limited, which can provide a range of IP-related services.
Chan handles trade mark and patent prosecution, agreements and enforcement and has particular experience in drug regulatory approval.
