Yesterday the European Parliament overwhelmingly backed plans for a unitary patent, with the first rights likely to be granted in less than two years. But many questions remain unanswered

Parliament’s vote came after the EU Competitiveness Council approved the latest plans and the CJEU Advocate General recommended that a challenge by Italy and Spain (which are not taking part in the unitary patent) be rejected.
