Colombia joins Madrid Protocol on trade marks

Colombia has deposited its instrument of accession with WIPO as part of the process to join the Madrid system on international trade mark registration
Vice-President Angelino Garzón deposited the instrument with WIPO Director General Francis Gurry. The country will begin taking applications on August 29, unless it delays or suspends the process during that time.
In March the Constitutional Court in Colombia ruled that the law approving the country''s accession was enforceable, removing the last hurdle to accession.
