ARI Registry Services signed 21 gTLD clients within one week of the application period opening on January 12, chief executive Adrian Kinderis said today.

Kinderis said most of the clients were .brand applicants. ARI recently said it found that brands (60%) had shown most interest in applying, followed by entrepreneurs (30%) and then governments or other groups (10%) aiming for .city or .region bids.

He said he expects to reveal the brands’ identities in the “near future” but did not say if this would be before March 29, the last date to begin a new gTLD application.

In October 2011, Melbourne-based ARI Registry Services rebranded from AusRegistry, opening a second head office in the US.
