Software needs patent/copyright compromise

Open software advocates and lawyers clashed over what IP protection software should have during a meeting of IP stakeholders yesterday
The Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) organised the meeting for members and to present to British Member of Parliament Mike Weatherley, who is known to lobby for IP rights.
In a spirit of openness, the last speaker was James Firth of the Open Digital Policy Organisation, which campaigns for a compromise between existing IP rights online and more extreme calls to abolish rights.
