Cannabis smokers have always had a strong likelihood of confusion. This is increasingly becoming true for US cannabis-related businesses as well, with legalisation by states prompting trade mark registration questions and disputes, reports Ellie Mertens

California became the latest US state to allow state-level trade marks on cannabis-related services on January 1 this year. After some debate at the California Secretary of State's office, cannabis-related goods were also permitted on January 12.
