A second trial against Canon concerning two other IV patents covering graphical user interface technologies starts on May 5 before another jury, also in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
"We are pleased with the jury’s verdict and thank them for their hard work and careful consideration of this important matter," said Melissa Finocchio, chief litigation counsel for Intellectual Ventures.
According to Reuters, IV has also settled a lawsuit with chipmaker Xilinx, one of its investors. Xilinx invested in two IV funds and licensed some of its patents. But in 2010 it decided not to license more patents and asked a California court to declare the patents invalid.
