Edinburgh patent owner withdraws appeal

A long-running appeal over one of the world’s most closely watched biotechnology patents has been withdrawn, nearly 14 years after the patent was filed

The University of Edinburgh, the owner of the so-called Edinburgh patent (EP 0695351), which relates to the controversial issue of stem cell technology, withdrew its appeal during oral proceedings at the EPO on November 20.
