Malaysia: Malaysia's PCT-friendly patent laws


Malaysia's accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty required legislative amendments to bring the country into line with international patent practice. Patrick Mirandah and Ramakrishna Damodharan of Patrick Mirandah Co analyze the new rules

Malaysia has finally become the 131st state to become a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty, depositing the relevant documents on May 16 2006. Accordingly, all Treaty applications filed on or after August 16 2006 will automatically include Malaysia.
