Sisvel is an Italian-based administrator of patent pools with a reputation for enforcing its rights through the courts. Founder Roberto Dini tells Managing IP’s Simon Crompton how the company chooses where to sue

How useful will you find the information contained in the Global IP Project for your cases around the world?

Very useful. I'm primarily a European patent attorney and not that familiar with courts in China, for instance. So getting objective data on the various courts and how friendly they are to patent holders would be useful.

How well known is it which courts are more patentee-friendly? Some are very well known, others less so. A friend told me a story about going to the court in Marshall, Texas, for example. He flew from Washington, DC to Dallas and then took a taxi to Marshall. On the way the driver asked him who he was and what he was doing in Marshall.
