The International Trademark Association (INTA) has made two hires in its Washington, DC office.

Deborah Cohn (right), who served as Commissioner of Trademarks for the USPTO from 2010 to 2014, joins as senior director of government relations.

Lori Schulman, who most recently served as general counsel for the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), joins as senior director of internet policy.

Cohn will act as INTA’s liaison with the federal and state legislatures and agencies as well as participate in the development of Association policies and positions on federal, state, and relevant international agency issues. She was with the USPTO from 1983 through 2014.

Schulman will serve as INTA’s primary representative and spokesperson engaging the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and other Internet-related organisations, and will participate in the development of Association policies and positions on ICANN issues and on trade mark issues relating to the Internet.

Cohn and Schulman assume their new roles on March 9.
