Lynne Beresford joins IIPI

Lynne BeresfordLynne Beresford, the former USPTO commissioner of trade marks, has joined the board of advisers of the International Intellectual Property Institute (IIPI).

Beresford began working at the USPTO in 1979 as a trade mark examiner and retired as commissioner of trade marks in 2010.

She also helped negotiate and draft the implementing legislation for the Trademark Law Treaty and Madrid Protocol and in 2008 she led the team that negotiated the US ratification of the Singapore Trademark Law Treaty. In 2011, Beresford received a lifetime achievement award at the Managing IP North America Awards.
