Testing of the Trademark Clearinghouse, one of the key tools to protect IP rights in new gTLDs, will begin next month. The Clearinghouse is expected to be up and running in the fourth quarter of this year, despite some aspects still being uncertain
Representatives of Deloitte and IBM, who will operate the Clearinghouse, explained their plans and answered questions at the Icann meeting in Prague this week. They said they have been working on the project for two to three months.
They said testing will be in three phases, each lasting two weeks, running from July to September. The first phase will enable volunteer rights owners to submit records and see if the verification systems work.
