This is beginning to feel a little like farce. As Managing IP goes to
press, Icann had just issued its ninth statement in as many days about
the interruption to the gTLD application system. But brand owners were
no clearer about what was going on.
It all started on the night of April 11, one day before the period
for gTLD applications was due to end. The application system, or TAS,
started running slowly. Then very slowly. Then it stopped. It came back
