The UK government will publish a green paper on its Communications Bill within the next few months, internet minister Ed Vaizey said last week
Speaking at the Nominet Policy Forum, Vaizey said the government is still “working out a few details” on the green paper.
He added that the aim would be to “create a world-class communications infrastructure and incentivise the creation of content”.
But he also said the government favoured a “light-touch regulatory structure” and favoured self-regulatory solutions to what he called the three Ps – pornography, privacy and piracy.
If consumers do not trust the regulatory regime, that will undermine e-commerce, said Vaizey.
