Swedish court fines Bittorrent user

14 February 2012

Most house sitters can expect to walk the dog and take in parcels when they look after a home for a friend. But one unlucky Swedish man ended up opening the door to some far less welcome visitors.

When the police came to the house in search of the owner on an unrelated matter, they seized the house sitter’s computer. Unfortunately for him, a search revealed that he had used Bittorrent to share dozens of copyright-infringing files.

Now the man has been found guilty and fined 6,000 kronor ($900).
