How the EU could make it easier to enforce IP rights

The European Commission has outlined how it might reform its enforcement directive to make it easier for IP owners to take action against infringers

It has published a roadmap for reforming the enforcement directive that sets out the three policy options it is considering.

The first is to include more details in the directive about how IP owners can get more evidence from intermediaries to help them identify people who are infringing on a commercial scale and how they are financing their operations. This option would also see the Commission provide a clearer definition of “commercial scale” so as to ensure that professional...
