Have your say on USPTO fees

09 February 2012

Eileen McDermott, New York

The USPTO’s Patent Public Advisory Committee (PPAC) will hold two hearings on the proposed new patent fees later this month.

The first will be in Alexandria, Virginia on February 15 and the second in Sunnyvale, California on February 23.

Transcripts will be available on the USPTO website soon after the hearings.

USPTO Director David Kappos encouraged stakeholders to highlight any areas where the Agency’s calculations, assumptions or methods may be improved: “The fee schedule we have published represents only an initial proposal and is far from final. We invite feedback and recommendations from the public and look forward to a meaningful dialogue over the coming months as we work to set these fees at the optimal levels.”
