The UK Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) is to replace retiring chief executive Mick Ralph with Lee Davies from the Institute for Learning.
Ralph, who was with the CIPA for almost 40 years, will step down in March. Davies had been at the Institute for Learning, an independent body dedicated to the development of teachers and trainers in the education sector, for seven years, serving most recently as its deputy chief executive.
CIPA's president, Tim Roberts, commented that Davies's background would be useful given the continuous training required by attorneys.
CIPA is the professional and examining body for patent attorneys in the UK. It has 3000 members, with around 1800 attorneys.
