How BMW beat infringers in China

German car maker BMW has won an important court victory in its long-running battle against a business selling clothes in China using a confusingly similar trade mark

At the end of December the Beijing no 2 Intermediate People’s Court awarded BMW Rmb500,000 ($79,000) in damages and granted an injunction against Guangzhou Century Baochi Clothing Company.

BMW’s favourable verdict is the latest stage in a seven-year battle and is the company’s second court victory against the same infringer.
