Apple loses to Motorola over email patent

Motorola has won a permanent injunction against Apple over the latter’s iCloud service, just as a previous win forces Apple to remove its iPads from the shelves

The Mannheim Regional Court ruled this morning against Apple's Irish sales subsidiary, over a patent that helps email to be 'pushed' automatically to a smartphone. If Motorola enforces the injunction, German users of Apple products would have to set their phones to check regularly for email, rather than have it come automatically.

Apple is likely to appeal to the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court. If Motorola wants to enforce the injunction, it must put up a €100 million...
