What the Megaupload defendants can expect in US court

The seven men from former file-sharing company Megaupload who are charged with copyright infringement could face a “very quick” US district court trial if they are extradited from New Zealand

US officials are trying to extradite Megaupload’s founder Kim Dotcom and six employees. The men were arrested in Auckland last week after US officials shut down file-sharing sites that had allegedly made $175 million over seven years.

Lawyers in New Zealand say it could take at least one year for a final ruling in the case. Three of the men remain at large.
