ZTE and Ericsson sign patent deal

23 January 2012

Swedish telecoms company Ericsson and China’s ZTE have dropped their patent lawsuits and agreed a royalty deal.

In April last year Ericsson sued ZTE in Germany, Italy and the UK, accusing it of infringing patents relating to GSM and 3G/UMTS cellular technology. The Shenzhen-based company responded by filing a lawsuit of its own in China.

Now Ericsson says that ZTE has agreed to pay royalties in a cross-licensing deal on FRAND terms.
