Anheuser-Bush does a deal over Budweiser

16 January 2012

Anheuser-Busch InBev has bought the rights to a Czech brewery’s budweiser trade marks.

The company, which has been in a decades-long multi-territorial dispute with another Czech brewer, Budejovicky Budvar, over the budweiser name, has acquired the rights to budweiser trade marks belonging to Budejovicky Mestansky Pivovar.

A spokeswoman for Anheuser-Busch said the deal will see the two companies settle their trade mark disputes. Budejovicky Mestansky Pivovar’s former owners will retain its brewing operations in the Czech Republic and its non-budweiser trade marks.
