Last chance to comment on registrar contract

Managing Internet Intellectual Property

The public comment period on the Preliminary GNSO Issue Report on the Registrar Accreditation Agreement Amendments closes today at 11.59pm UTC.

The report summarises proposed changes to the contract between Icann and registrars. Law enforcement officials and a separate GNSO working group have made 24 combined recommendations to protect registrants and reduce abuse.

Icann wants its staff and registrars to meet in the next two months and put forward proposed contractual changes by the Costa Rica meeting in March 2012.

Any unaddressed recommendations in these bi-lateral talks will form part of a final report that the GNSO council will vote on before beginning a policy development process.
