USPTO fast-track “a welcome change”

The USPTO released a report last week on the progress of Track 1 of the Office’s three-track programme, which promises examination in 12 months to those willing to pay a $4,000 fee

According to the report, since Track 1 was implemented in September last year, 98.9% of the 1,694 Track 1 petitions received have been approved for processing. It is taking about 1.5 months (40.8 days) on average to move Track 1 cases from receipt of the petition to the completion of pre-examination processing.

“While 40.8 days in pre-exam for Track I compares favourably with our normal pre-exam processing time of 69.6 days, we are not satisfied and are working to cut this time further,” said the report....
