Singapore appoints new head of IP office

Tan Yih San has replaced Liew Woon Yin as chief executive of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.

Tan, who is 45 yours old, will retire from the Singapore Armed Forces, where he has held various posts for more than 26 years. He has in particular taken on a significant role in helping with the planning of the Ministry of Defence.

Tan is also a director of DSO National Laboratories, the city-state’s research and development facility for national security.

Liew has served as director-general of the IPOS since 2001 and took an integral part in the agency’s development as a statutory board. She will be working with Singapore Legal Service after her term at IPOS ends.
