Commission notes fall in problematic pharma deals

Just 10% of patent settlements in the pharmaceutical sector were problematic in the period July 2008 to December 2009, according to a report adopted by the European Commission
The figure compares with 22% in January 2000 to June 2008, the period covered by its recent enquiry into the pharmaceutical sector.
The Commission welcomed the findings of the report, saying it showed more awareness in the industry about which settlement agreements might attract competition law scrutiny.
