Green light for Whiskas purple trade mark

After almost eight years, Mars Australia has managed to obtain a trade mark registration for the colour purple for cat food

At the end of June the Federal Court of Australia ruled that the specific shade of Whiskas purple should be registered for cat food and additives for cat food.

"This case exemplifies the importance of deliberately choosing a particular colour within an extensive and calculated branding strategy," wrote Nicholas Weston of Nicholas Weston Lawyers and Trade Marks Attorneys on his blog.
