David Perdue is the CEO of Asentinel, a telecom expense management software company. He told Eileen McDermott why the Bilski opinion is “a major step forward” for software companies

Founded in 2002, Asentinel owns US patent number 7,340,422 , for a system for automating telecom invoices. The patent was granted in March 2008.

The Memphis, Tennessee-based company co-signed an amicus brief in the Bilski v Kappos case, which was decided this week.

Can you explain your company's invention?

Our invention automates the handling of telecom invoices. The software looks at 450 data points on an invoice and analyses them to see if the items are in active inventory or if there are errors. It also takes contractual information between the carrier and the company and...
