Bloggers this week discuss saving the publishing industry with copyright reforms, Brazil’s decision to suspend threatened IP sanctions and the USPTO’s plans to reform its fee structure for patent applications
On IP Jur, Axel Horns discusses the rapidly changing world of newspaper journalism and efforts by publishing companies in Germany to lobby for a new kind of auxiliary copyright protection. Horns says that the government has indicated that it is considering amending German law, a move that does not impress the blogger.
"Extremists from the publishing Industries like those currently promoting additional auxiliary copyright laws and, on top of that, draconian measures in cartel law to discipline dissenting publishing companies are actually giving a strong disservice to the system of IP law in its entirety," writes Horns.
