With the 38th Icann Public Meeting in Brussels kicking off later this week, Managing Internet IP takes a look at six key topics up for debate
IP protections in new gTLDs
The Icann Board caught everybody surprise at the last meeting in Nairobi when it indicated that it is willing to move on the rights protection measures for new gTLDs, even though the subject was not on its agenda.
It is unlikely that any new suggestions on this subject will originate from the Board at the meeting. Given the Draft Applicant Guidebook is still up for discussion, a vote on the mechanisms is unlikely too.
