New approach to patent pools, says drugs campaigner

Pharmaceutical companies have changed their approach to patent pools over the past two years, a senior adviser at drugs financing body UNITAID says

Writing in the latest issue of Managing IP, Ellen 't Hoen, senior adviser, IP and Medicines Patent Pool at UNITAID, says that patent holding companies were not open to discuss new approaches to IP when proposals for medicine patent pools were first developed in 2002.
