Germany’s top court backs online copyright owners

Germany’s highest court has boosted copyright owners in a ruling that clarifies liability for IP infringement in user-generated content on the web

The plaintiff had sued www.chefkoch.de, a user-generated recipe website, alleging that some of his photographs had been illegally uploaded by the website’s users. In a decision issued in November, but only published in full last week, the Court upheld rulings of two lower courts, which had backed the plaintiff.
