Madrid filings rebound in 2010

Trademark filings using the Madrid System are rising again after a 16% drop in 2009, according to WIPO’s latest statistics

Companies made 12,928 filings using the Madrid System from January 1 to the end of April this year, a 7.3% increase on the same period last year.

“If the financial crisis does not worsen we hope to see steady growth in 2010,” said Wang Binying, the Deputy Director-General of WIPO who oversees trademarks, industrial designs and geographical indications. ...
