Alasdair Poore is the new president of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys in the UK.
He was elected at the Annual General Meeting on May 19.
Poore is a partner of Mill & Reeve in Cambridge.
He qualified as a barrister and worked for seven years in patents and licensing at Shell UK before working for a London law firm.
HI election came after 70 newly qualified attorneys were admitted to the profession earlier this week.
