India and Brazil challenge Europe on drugs seizures

India and Brazil have raised the stakes in their dispute with the European Union over seizures it has made of generic drugs being transported through the EU
The governments of the two countries have asked for consultations with the European Commission and the Netherlands, the first step in the dispute procedure before the WTO. If the two sides do not resolve their row within 60 days, Brazil and India can request the trade body to set up a panel of experts to consider the issue.
A spokesperson for the WTO told Managing IP that it is processing the consultation request, which is due to be added to its list of disputes.
