Commission and Microsoft agree browser deal

Microsoft has agreed to offer Windows users a choice of browsers in Europe, bringing to an end the European Commission’s competition investigation of the company

As part of the settlement agreement, released today, Microsoft commits to provide Windows users with a screen showing various browsers, to allow them to install any browser on top of Windows and to make any browser the default. The deal applies to both new computers and existing ones on which Internet Explorer is the default browser.
